In a quiet neighborhood on Tongde Road in Qingdao, a groundbreaking solar power system has captured the attention of local residents. Installed on the rooftop of a seven-story residential building in Jialinggou Community, this is China's first home-based distributed photovoltaic power generation system. The project, which has drawn many people to stop and take a closer look, features a total installed capacity of 2 kilowatts and operates at a grid-connected voltage of 380/220 volts. It not only meets the household's own electricity needs but also feeds excess power back into the grid.
The project’s owner, Xu Pengfei, invested over 20,000 yuan to install the system, which includes four 240-watt polycrystalline silicon panels, five 230-watt monocrystalline silicon panels, and a 2-kilowatt inverter. According to calculations by the Qingdao Power Grid, the system is expected to generate approximately 2,600 kilowatt-hours of electricity annually. This would save around 0.91 tons of standard coal and reduce carbon dioxide emissions by about 2,592 kilograms per year.
According to an official from the Energy Bureau, the development of distributed energy systems is progressing faster than initially planned. By 2015, the country aims to reach a total installed capacity of 20 million kilowatts for such projects. This initiative not only promotes clean and renewable energy use but also sets a positive example for future residential energy solutions. As more people become aware of the benefits of solar power, it's clear that decentralized energy systems are becoming an essential part of the sustainable future.
