Recently, Sinovel Wind Power has made a significant breakthrough by successfully obtaining the ETL certification from Intertek for its 1.5MW and 3MW double-fed wind turbines. This marks the first time a Chinese manufacturer has received such a certification for this type of turbine, signaling a major step forward in the company’s global expansion strategy.
The ETL certification confirms that Sinovel's products meet all U.S. and Canadian electrical safety standards, making them eligible for entry into the North American market. This achievement not only strengthens the company’s credibility but also opens up new opportunities for growth in one of the world’s most competitive energy markets.
Sinovel first entered the U.S. market in 2010, and since then, it has been actively exploring partnerships in Canada. The current negotiations for a 2012 wind power project in Canada are expected to benefit significantly from this new certification. With the ETL approval, Sinovel is now better positioned to expand its presence across North America.
Intertek is a globally recognized testing and certification body, accredited by OSHA as a National Recognized Testing Laboratory (NRTL) in the U.S., and as a Test Organization (TO) and Certification Body (CO) by the Canadian Standards Association (SCC). It is also an IAS-approved wind power type certification agency and A2LA-certified for wind power testing. In addition, it holds accreditation from the European Union's MCS and the UK's UKAS, making it one of the most trusted names in the industry.
Many leading wind power manufacturers around the world rely on Intertek for their product certifications, further highlighting the significance of this achievement for Sinovel.
