Over the past few days, the weather across much of southern China has been dominated by persistent rainfall, with Jiangnan and South China experiencing continuous drizzle. Central and eastern Jiangnan as well as parts of South China are expected to see moderate to heavy downpours over the next three days, with localized instances of torrential rain.
Meanwhile, the northern region is bracing itself for increased cold air activity. Over the next few days, temperatures in central and eastern Inner Mongolia, Northeast China, Xinjiang, and parts of Northwest China are predicted to drop by 4 to 8 degrees Celsius, with certain areas seeing drops as high as 10 degrees. Winds will reach speeds of 4 to 6 on the Beaufort scale, increasing to 8 to 9 in some regions. From the 29th to the 30th, much of Xinjiang is expected to experience light to moderate snowfall, with some areas receiving heavy snow and even localized blizzards. Looking ahead to the next three days, from 8:00 AM on the 29th until 8:00 PM, northern Xinjiang, western Tibet, and southern Qinghai are forecasted to see light to moderate snowfall, with some areas in northwestern Xinjiang and the Ili River Valley experiencing heavy snow and even snowstorms. Central and eastern Jianghan, Jianghuai, and southern areas are expected to see light to moderate rainfall, with some sections of southeastern Jiangnan and northern Guangdong seeing heavier downpours. Northern Xinjiang and eastern Inner Mongolia are expected to experience winds reaching 4 to 6 on the Beaufort scale, while the Yili region in Xinjiang could see gusts up to 8 to 9.
From 8:00 AM on the 30th through 8:00 AM on December 1st, northern Xinjiang, eastern parts of the Tibetan Plateau, eastern northwestern China, parts of western Inner Mongolia, and the western reaches of northern China are likely to see light to moderate snow or sleet, with localized heavy snowfall. Some areas in northern China might also experience moderate to heavy rain. Northern Xinjiang, western Gansu, western Inner Mongolia, and northern Qinghai are expected to see winds of 5 to 7 on the Beaufort scale, with gusts reaching 8 to 9 in the Yili region. The Bohai Sea and the northern Yellow Sea are expected to experience winds of 5 to 7, while the southern Yellow Sea, most of the East China Sea, and the Taiwan Strait will see winds of 6 to 7 with gusts up to 8 to 9.
From 8:00 AM on December 1st to 2:00 AM on December 2nd, northern Xinjiang, central and eastern Inner Mongolia, northern North China, western Northeast China, and northern Huanghuai are expected to see light to moderate snow or sleet. Western Xinjiang and areas along the Tianshan range may see large snowfall, including potential blizzards. Parts of southern and southwestern China, as well as central and western southern China, are forecasted to experience moderate to heavy rain, with localized heavy downpours. Northern Xinjiang, central and eastern Inner Mongolia, northern Gansu, and northern Qinghai will likely see winds of 4 to 6, with gusts reaching 7 to 8 in mountain passes. The Beibu Gulf and the northwestern South China Sea are expected to experience northerly winds of 6 to 7 with gusts up to 8.
