On the 24th, a signing ceremony was held in Fuzhou for the purchase and sale contract of Unit 1 and the grid-connected dispatching agreement for the Ningde Nuclear Power Station. This milestone marks the official approval for power generation and sets the stage for the unit to be integrated into the Fujian Power Grid in March next year, starting full-scale operations.
According to recent updates, Unit 1 of the Ningde Nuclear Power Plant is expected to be connected to the grid by the end of this month. With a nameplate capacity of 1,089 MW, the unit will undergo load tests and transient tests in collaboration with the provincial power company, ensuring it meets all operational standards for commercial use in early 2025.
Located in Haixi, the Ningde Nuclear Power Plant is the first nuclear facility built in the region and began construction in February 2008. Over the years, it has successfully passed several critical milestones, including the thermal test of Unit 1, initial fuel loading, achieving criticality for the first time, and completing its first power conversion. These achievements highlight the steady progress of the project and underline its importance in meeting the growing energy demands of Fujian Province.
