Long Maier-Mount Rainer saw a tragic event as a climber fell more than 3,000 feet. His death was assisted by a ranger who helped save four injured climbers during an incident in Glacier National Park.

Ranger Nick Hall was preparing a climber for a peak on Mount Washington, which stands at 14,411 feet, when the incident occurred on Thursday evening at 5 p.m., according to a park spokeswoman, Kevin.

Hall, a 34-year-old ranger, did not respond to calls and was later found motionless at around 10,000 feet. When other rangers reached his location several hours later, they confirmed that he had passed away.

Park officials informed Hall’s family and others about his passing on Thursday evening. Meanwhile, Chinook helicopters from Lewis-McCord United Base rescued three injured climbers from Cascade Mountain late Thursday night. A climber from Waco, Texas, remained overnight in the area while waiting for the storm to pass. All four climbers were reported to be injured but not in immediate danger. The worsening weather, including 40-mile-per-hour winds and reduced visibility, delayed the rescue efforts until late Thursday night.

The storm at Mount Rainier has been particularly severe and persistent this season.

Approximately 10,000 people attempt to summit Mount Rainier each year, with most choosing to do so during the summer months.

Texas climbers were using ropes on the Emmons Glacier on Thursday when both ended up in a crevasse at the end of their rope. Local rangers responded to the emergency and provided assistance.

According to a spokesperson for Maine Park, Hall was originally from the region and had been planning to climb Mount Rainier for four years.

His death marks another difficult chapter for the park's staff this year.

On New Year’s Day, Ranger Margaret was shot while trying to stop a man who attempted to drive through a tire chain checkpoint near Long Mayer. The suspect, a 24-year-old named Benjamin Collon Barnes, was linked to a shooting in Seattle on New Year’s Day, and his body was found a mile into the snow the following day.

In mid-January, an elite mountain rescue team searched for two campers and climbers who failed to return during a severe storm. Unfortunately, the search turned up empty-handed.
