Long Maier-Mount Rainer fell more than 3,000 feet, and his death was aided by a man who helped save four injured climbers who had fallen in Glacier National Park.

Ranger Nick Hall was preparing to take a peak from the 14,411-foot Mount Washington when he made contact on Thursday evening at 5 p.m., according to a spokeswoman named Kevin.

The 34-year-old Hall should not have tried to reach out. He didn’t move. He died. When other rangers arrived at his 10,000-foot location several hours later, they found him unresponsive.

Park officials informed the family and others about the death of Ranger Hall on Thursday evening. Chinook helicopters from Lewis-McCord United Base rescued three injured climbers from Cascade Mountain on Thursday night. A climber from Waco, Texas, stayed overnight while waiting for the worsening storm to pass. It is reported that all four climbers were injured but their lives are not in danger. The exact condition of each remains undetermined. Due to deteriorating visibility and winds reaching 40 miles per hour, rescuers managed to extract all four individuals late Thursday night.

Storm conditions on Mount Rainier remain intense and challenging.

Approximately 10,000 people attempt to summit the volcano each year, with most doing so during the summer months.

Texas climbers were using ropes when they encountered an issue on the Emmons Glacier on Thursday. Both ended up in a crevasse at the end of their ropes. Local rangers responded quickly and assisted them.

Ranger Hall was originally from Maine, according to a park spokesperson. He had been planning to climb Mount Rainier National Park for four years.

His death has added to what has already been a difficult year for the park’s staff.

On New Year's Day, Ranger Margaret was shot while trying to stop a man who drove through a tire chain checkpoint near Long Mayer. The 24-year-old suspect, Benjamin Collon Barnes, was linked to an early New Year's Day shooting in Seattle, and his body was found a mile away in the snow the following day.

In mid-January, an elite mountain rescue team went into the field to search for two campers and climbers who failed to return during a severe storm. Unfortunately, they were not found.
