China Midland Furniture to Showcase "Fuchun Mountain Residence" at the First China Red Expo

The film "Tianji - Fuchun Mountain Residence," which cost over 100 million yuan and featured numerous celebrities, was a huge success, earning 290 million in box office revenue. Thanks to its cultural significance, "Fuchun Mountain Residence" has become well-known among the public. From October 9th to 13th, 2013, China Midland Furniture will bring this iconic work to the first China Red Expo. Could this "National Treasure" make a splash and spark a new wave of interest in traditional Chinese art?

Unlike the movie version, Midland Furniture's "Fuchun Mountain Residence" is a nine-meter-long mahogany carving. Crafted from Burmese rosewood, this masterpiece showcases the natural grain, warm tones, and fine structure of the wood. The scene features scattered blades, lush hills, pine trees, and stone formations, with misty mountains and a small thatched cottage. The composition is intricate and ever-changing, creating an endless visual journey. Combined with the unique sandalwood scent of Burmese rosewood, the entire piece exudes a sense of depth, purity, and grandeur.

This remarkable work was created by Mr. Zhang Honglin, Chairman of Midland Furniture, and Mr. Hu Champion, a renowned woodcarving artist. Inspired by the original painting style of Yuan Dynasty master Huang Gongwang, the piece was collaboratively crafted by over 20 artists, including sculptors, master carpenters, and top painters, over the past two years. It was finally completed in May 2013.

Since its completion, Midland Furniture has been seeking a major platform to showcase "Fuchun Mountain Residence." The China Red Fair, known for its influential "Red Storm" presence in the redwood industry, quickly became their partner. There are two main reasons for this collaboration: First, the fair’s innovative marketing approach—“One Wall, One Sand Painting, One Song, One Sand Table”—has set a new standard in the industry, adding a strong cultural identity to exhibitions. Given the immense cultural value of "Fuchun Mountain Residence," it needed a platform that could truly honor its legacy. Second, the China Red Fair not only promotes across the country but also launched the "Red Journey - Project Briefing" campaign, spanning the entire redwood base of China—a unique initiative in the industry.

As the largest professional mahogany furniture exhibition in China, the China Red Fair covers 35,000 square meters and brings together the finest works from all regions and styles of Chinese mahogany furniture. Exhibits include mahogany furniture, handicrafts, classical (antique) furniture, Chinese lifestyle products, materials, and accessories.
