Huang Yonghe, chief expert of China Automotive Technology and Research Center, told Xinhua News Agency on the 8th that due to the financial crisis, the world's number one automobile consumption country, the United States, continued to decline in automobile sales in 2009, with annual sales of 10.43 million units, compared with 1,320 units in the previous year. The reduction of nearly 2.8 million vehicles was 40% lower than the annual sales of 17 million vehicles at the peak. Last year, China’s car sales increased by more than 40% over the previous year. It replaced the United States and became the world’s largest auto consumer market for the first time.
Huang Yonghe said that the average unit price of Chinese cars is relatively low, after tax is 130,000 yuan, and the unit price of American cars is close to 30,000 US dollars. Compared with the total revenue of automobile sales, there is still a considerable gap between China and the United States.

The annual sales volume of automobiles was 2.72 million, the number of FAW Group was 1.944 million, that of Dongfeng Motor was 1.89 million, and that of Changan Automobile after reorganization was 1.863 million.
The total sales volume of China Auto Group reached 8.42 million units last year, accounting for more than 60% of the country's total sales. Together with the approximately 1.2 million vehicles of BAIC Group, the top five automobile groups in China had a market share of over 70% last year, and the market concentration has further increased.
