Centrifugal glass wool felt is one of the oldest and most versatile sound-absorbing materials, widely used in building insulation for noise reduction, thermal protection, and fire resistance. It's commonly applied in lightweight exterior wall insulation systems, where it plays a key role in sound absorption. The typical structure of such a system includes a gypsum board, followed by a framework (keel), then the centrifugal glass wool board, and another layer of gypsum board. As sound waves pass through the outer gypsum board, the glass wool board absorbs part of the sound energy, reducing reflections within the cavity formed between the boards and the keel. This helps improve the overall sound insulation performance of the exterior wall.
However, the density of centrifugal glass wool felt available on the market usually doesn't exceed 60 kg/m³, which leads to poor sound insulation performance. It feels very soft and tends to sag over time, eventually losing its soundproofing capabilities. In contrast, specialized centrifugal glass wool boards are manufactured with a controlled process that ensures even distribution and structural strength without excessive glue. These boards are pressed at high temperatures, minimizing the need for adhesives, which helps maintain their fire-resistant properties.

They come in standard widths like 800mm, 600mm, and 400mm, matching common keel spacing. This eliminates the need to cut A-grade fireproof rock wool boards during construction, reducing waste and improving efficiency.
