Connect a laptop to the UTP port of the fiber transceiver and boot into Windows 98. Open the command prompt and use the "ping" command followed by the IP address of the remote device (e.g., "ping 192.168.1.1"). If the ping fails or shows high latency, the transceiver could be the cause. Replace it and run the ping test again. If the issue persists, the transceiver on the other end may also need to be replaced. By following these troubleshooting steps, you can quickly identify and resolve common issues with fiber optic transceivers, ensuring reliable and efficient network performance.
