According to data released by the Nantong Inspection and Quarantine Bureau, in April, the city imported a total of 153,800 meters of textile fabrics, valued at $618,800. This marks a significant rise compared to the previous period, with an increase of 100.89% in volume and 69.56% in value. Additionally, compared to the same month last year, there was a 13.82% growth in quantity and 30.81% in value.
The majority of the imported fabrics consist of printed cotton fabric, dyed cotton fabric, and cotton-blend dyed fabrics. Japan remains the primary source of these imports, with 135,200 meters coming from there—accounting for 87.96% of the total trade volume. In contrast, during the same period last year, only 55,100 meters were imported from Japan, making up 71.99% of total imports. The main trade method involves processing raw materials under a feed-in arrangement, with 92.29% of the imported textiles used for garment and bedding production destined for export markets. These goods are primarily sold overseas, supporting the region's strong textile export industry. (China Textile News)
