Liu Qiang, an 18-year-old member of the packaging department at Aoma Furniture Factory, starts his day at 8 a.m. Unlike other departments that require high technical skills and precision, the packaging team demands sharp attention to detail and fast, efficient operation. While Liu Qiang may not yet match the speed of experienced workers, he learns quickly and is able to complete most of his daily tasks within regular working hours. However, some orders are so complex that he often ends up staying late, sometimes until 9:30 p.m., finishing what he couldn't in the day.
"If I can't finish, I just keep working," he says with a calm tone. Despite the long hours, Liu Qiang feels lucky today. He was criticized by some older employees for being slow, but his assigned tasks were all small parts, which he found easy since he's already used to handling light items. In between work, he muttered, "I want to finish, but I can't take shortcuts." By lunchtime, he had already completed more than half of the job. After eating, he took a quick nap. By the end of the night, he proudly said, "I finished nearly 500 packages!"
At 18, Liu Qiang is full of curiosity and questions about life. He loves sci-fi and action movies, and while he's entering the adult world, he still feels uncertain. "Even though I'm the youngest here, I don't feel different from others, but I don't know why. We don't really hang out or talk much," he says. To pass the time, he reads books and writes in a diary. When he's in a good mood, he listens to soft music; when he's down, he turns to rock. He doesn't play games or use his phone much. "Since I came to Shenzhen, I've changed a lot. I didn't like dealing with people or reading before. There are so many things I don't understand. But in this fast-paced city, I feel a lot."

"—If I could do it all over again, I'd like to start a small business and live a stable, peaceful life."
