In September 2013, the national machine tool industry reported an export delivery value of 3.764 billion yuan, reflecting a year-on-year decline of 7.09% and a monthly decrease of 1.27%. Within the sector, the metal cutting machine tool manufacturing industry experienced a significant drop in exports, with a monthly export delivery value of 522 million yuan, down 10.83% compared to the same period last year and 12.37% from the previous month. However, the growth in the overall machine tool industry’s exports was driven by metal forming machine tools and other metal processing machinery industries, which saw increases of 33.71% and 13.9%, respectively, in September.
From January to September 2013, the total export delivery value for the national machine tool industry reached 32.648 billion yuan, marking a cumulative year-on-year decline of 6.92%. This was a worsening trend compared to the previous month's cumulative growth rate of 0.43 percentage points. Among the sub-sectors, other specialized equipment manufacturing industries faced a sharp decline, with a cumulative year-on-year decrease of 18.66%. In contrast, the metal forming machine tool manufacturing industry showed strong performance, with a cumulative year-on-year increase of 20.97%.
Regarding major product output, the machine tool industry recorded a quarterly increase in production during September 2013, with the foundry machinery industry experiencing the most significant growth. The monthly output reached 78,468 units, representing an 8.03% rise from the previous month, following a negative growth rate of -8.27% in August. Despite this improvement, the overall outlook for the machine tool industry remained challenging, as some sectors still struggled with declining output levels. The industry continued to face headwinds, indicating that recovery was not yet widespread across all segments.
