In September 2013, the national machine tool industry reported an export delivery value of 3.764 billion yuan, marking a year-on-year decline of 7.09% and a monthly drop of 1.27%. Among the categories, the metal cutting machine tool manufacturing sector experienced a sharp fall in exports, with a value of 522 million yuan, down 10.83% from the same period last year and 12.37% compared to August. Meanwhile, the growth in the machine tool industry’s exports was mainly driven by metal forming machine tools and other metal processing machinery industries, which saw increases of 33.71% and 13.9%, respectively.
From January to September 2013, the total export delivery value of the national machine tool industry reached 32.648 billion yuan, representing a cumulative year-on-year decrease of 6.92%. This was a slight deterioration compared to the previous month’s cumulative growth rate of 0.43 percentage points. On a category level, the most significant decline came from other specialized equipment manufacturing industries, which fell by 18.66% year-on-year. In contrast, the metal forming machine tool manufacturing industry showed positive momentum, with a cumulative year-on-year increase of 20.97%.
Regarding main product output, the machine tool industry saw a quarterly increase in major product output in September. The foundry machinery industry recorded the most significant rise, with a monthly output of 78,468 units—an 8.03% increase from the previous month. This followed a negative growth of -8.27% in August. However, despite the monthly improvement, the overall performance of the industry remained challenging when viewed through a year-on-year lens, as some sectors still faced expansion issues.
