Egypt develops nanomaterial dressing to accelerate wound healing in diabetic patients

Because diabetes has anti-coagulation and weakens the immune system, diabetics are at risk of serious infections after an open wound. The research team at the University of Alexandria in Egypt has developed a method of silver ion dressing to promote wound healing in diabetic patients and reduce the threat of infection. The dressing material is composed of a nanofiber material made of low-cost cellulose acetate. These fibers are electrospun and added into the silver nanoparticles, and when the silver ions have good antibacterial properties, no metal poisoning phenomenon occurs.

This material penetrates into the liquid and air, allowing the wound to heal easily and with good protection. The results of the open wounds in diabetic mice were good in the laboratory. The dressing of this material can provide very good antibacterial protection and accelerate the healing of skin tissue collagen.
