In recent years, relying on the development of the “Safe City” and other activities, China’s security technology has achieved remarkable results. It has not only played a positive role in preventing and cracking down on illegal crimes by public security organs, but also has served as a major event for the Beijing Olympics and Shanghai World Expo. Security guards provide important technical support. In particular, video surveillance technology has now become a new growth point for public security agencies.

Tan Xiaozhun believes that the current development of China's security technology mainly presents five characteristics: First, the rapid upgrading of electronic security products, toward the development of digital, integrated, networked, and intelligent; Second, China's high-end technology products have improved their independent research and development capabilities. The security chip technology and integration technology have reached a relatively high level. Third, platform software and middleware technologies adapted to public security and industry applications have achieved greater development. The situation of “hard and strong weaknesses” has eased; fourth, computer technology and communication technology. The integration of many technologies, such as electronic technology, has greatly expanded the space for the development of security technology; Fifth, in conjunction with the national "Eleventh Five-Year Plan" technology support plan, research on social security risk, dynamic early warning technology and emergency response to emergencies in public places, etc. In terms of technical innovation, it solved a number of technical problems that plagued the construction of large-scale, integrated, and networked alarm and monitoring systems.

However, Tan Xiaozhan pointed out at the same time that the development and application of China's security technology still has a small gap compared with the developed countries in the world. In particular, the capacity for independent innovation is still relatively weak, and the core technologies, large-scale integration capabilities, Internet of things technologies, and high-tech information and There are still many “bottleneck” issues in the areas of communication technology and security applications, and technologies such as intelligent alarms, fuzzy image processing and analysis, post-image retrieval, and audio and video information delivery have yet to be further strengthened. She appealed to security technology workers and security companies participating in the Security Forum to keep track of international security frontier technologies and further increase scientific research, in particular to increase independent innovation, accelerate the transformation and application of security high-tech achievements, and jointly cope with economic and social issues.
