Scientists are expected to develop real bio-cells through transmissible bacteria

Recently, scientists at the University of East Anglia in the UK discovered a special bacteria that can transmit electricity. They said that by studying the electrical transmission process of the bacteria, a bio-cell could be developed. It is reported that the researchers found a bacteria called shewanella oneidensis. Researchers attached the bacteria to rusted iron and other materials, then decomposed them and finally achieved the goal of transmitting electricity.

In order to understand the process of the transmission of electricity by the bacteria, researchers created a synthetic version of Serratia in the laboratory and then tested it on iron. The study found that the protein on the surface of the bacteria is the source of electrical transmission. This means that researchers will be able to use the above protein as part of the battery.

Tom Clarke, head of the research team, said the bacteria will have great potential for future microbial fuel cell research.

At present, this research report has been published in the "Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences".
