Profiled glass fiber is available in Japan

Japan's NITTO MANUFACTURING CO., LTD. exhibited its developed shaped glass fiber FF and HIS at the 2011 JEC exhibition. These fibers are used to improve the performance of thermoplastic composites.

The cross section of the ordinary glass fiber is circular, while the cross section of the FF fiber is elliptical, and the cross section of the HIS fiber is a dome shape. The aspect ratio of the FF fiber is 4, the aspect ratio of the HIS fiber is 2.FF and the HIS fiber can reduce shrinkage and warpage of the molded part, and at the same time provide good mechanical properties, and the two-way performance difference of the plastic part is very small. Their excellent flow properties reduce product defects and molding time. Molding is easy even when molded with high glass content. Therefore, FF and HIS glass fibers are particularly suitable for making high elastic modulus and high strength composites.
