Cucumber deficiency symptoms and remediation techniques in greenhouse

Nitrogen-deficient elements: The plants are short, thin, and the leaves are light green. The lower leaves first become yellow or even fall off, then gradually move up and spread throughout the whole plant.

Remedy: timely application of quick-acting nitrogen fertilizer, generally 15-20 kg of urea can be applied to the water, or 1-2% urea aqueous solution 50 kg per acre sprayed on the foliage.

Phosphorus deficiency: The plant grows slowly, is short, the stems and leaves are long and rich in wood, the leaves become smaller, the leaves are dark green and dull, and in severe cases, they are purple-red, the leaves are curled, and the tissue is necrotic.

Remedy: Apply 20-30 kg of superphosphate per acre, or spray 2-3 times with 0.2-0.4% potassium dihydrogen phosphate aqueous solution.

Potassium deficiency: The leaves of the lower part of the plant were light gray-green, followed by bronze or yellow-brown, the leaf edge turned brown, necrotic lesions along the veins, and the mesophyll tissue decayed. In severe cases, it also develops into new leaves. The stems are slender and hard, and the roots are weak and brown.

Remedy: When there is a symptom of potassium deficiency, immediately apply a quick-acting fertilizer such as potassium sulfate. It is also possible to spray 1-2% potassium dihydrogen phosphate aqueous solution 2-3 times.

Calcium deficiency: Plants are short, premature, premature vegetative growth, forming thick and woody stems; lateral root tip death, tumor-like protrusions, young leaves curled, leaf margins turn yellow and green leaves from leaf tips And the leaf margin died inward; the top bud of the plant was necrotic, but the old leaf remained green.

Remedy: 50 kg of leaf surface per 1 mu of 1% calcium chloride solution is evenly sprayed.

Manganese deficiency: The young leaves of the upper part of the plant are chlorotic or brown spots, deciduous, and then develop to the yellow leaves and the upper part of the stem becomes brown and dead.

Remedy: Maintain soil neutrality and apply 1–1.5 kg of manganese sulfate per mu; or use 50-75 kg of 0.05-0.2% manganese sulfate aqueous solution per acre during flowering and juvenile period for foliar spraying 1— 2 times.

Boron deficiency: plant growth point shrinks brown and dry. The newly formed leaf buds and petioles are light and brittle, deformed, and the internodes become shorter. The stems are clustered with lobules, plant-like plexus, and the leaves are curled. The flowers are not flowering. In severe cases, root growth is blocked and brown rot.

Remedy: Soil acidification should be prevented, and 0.2-0.3% multi-element boron fertilizer or 0.1-0.2% boric acid aqueous solution should be applied to the roots. It is a good way to solve the problem of boron deficiency in cucumber. It can be sprayed once in the vegetative growth stage and the reproductive growth period. 50 kg to 75 kg per spray of fertilizer.

Magnesium deficiency: occurs mostly in the late growth stage. It is characterized by the yellow leaf of the old leaf and the veins are still green, and then the lesions appear and transfer to the new tissue site until they die.

Remedy: 50 kg of 0.2-0.5% magnesium sulfate aqueous solution can be used per acre, and foliar spraying can be carried out 1-2 times.

Zinc deficiency: The leaves are yellow and chlorotic, with spots, tissue necrosis between the veins, and the stems become shorter.

Remedy: Use 0.05-0.2% agricultural zinc sulfate aqueous solution to apply 50-75 kg of fertilizer solution per acre of root.

Iron deficiency: The leaves of young leaves are chlorotic, yellowish white. In severe cases, the whole leaves turn yellow and white, but they do not show necrotic spots and do not die.

Remedy: Spray 0.1-0.2% of ferrous sulfate aqueous solution 75 kg per acre of foliage, once every 7-10 days, and spray a total of 2-3 times.

Copper deficiency: plant growth is weak, young leaves are wilting, green is not lost, stem tips are weak, still alive, no necrotic spots.

Remedy: Foliar application of 0.05% aqueous copper sulfate solution.

Molybdenum deficiency: The plant growth potential is poor, the old leaves are chlorotic, the leaf flesh between the leaf margin and the veins is yellow-spotted, the leaf margins are curled toward the inside, and the leaf tips are atrophied, often causing the plants to flower without melons.

Remedy: Apply 50-kg of ammonium molybdate solution of 0.05-0.1% per acre, spray 1-2 times in the seedling stage and flowering stage respectively.
