Austria's quantum chip research has made a major breakthrough

The research of quantum chips is to make quantum technology applicable to daily life, such as quantum cryptography and higher-performance daily-use quantum computers.

A team of scientists from Austria and Canada, led by Dr. Gregor Weihs of the University of Innsbruck in Austria, recently achieved a feasible pair of photons in a semiconductor made of gallium arsenide in a laboratory. According to experimental data, the chip still has a high power loss. However, according to Dr. Gregor Weihs, “The effect was very good and a good signal was received under this condition.” Its breakthrough has accelerated the process of manufacturing and quantizing information for everyday use of quantum optics.
