Apple fertilization should reduce nitrogen and potassium

In the past, we applied the ratio of nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium to 2:2:1 or 1:1:1 in the fertilization of Red Fuji Orchard. After more than ten years of production practice, the ratio of nitrogen fertilizer is too much, Red Fuji grows. It is too prosperous, flower buds are difficult to form, and coloring is also poor. At the National Orchard Standardization Management Conference held last year, experts put forward a new perspective on reducing nitrogen and potassium. It is believed that for every 100 kilograms of apple produced, 0.3 kg of pure nitrogen, 0.08 kg of pure phosphorus, and 0.32 kg of pure potassium are required, that is, the potassium requirement is the largest during the growth of apple trees. The total fertilization amount per tree per year is 0.5 kg of pure nitrogen, 0.5 kg of pure phosphorus, and 0.75 kg of pure potassium. And fertilization is carried out in three periods throughout the year.

1. Before germination (mid-March): 45% of total nitrogen fertilizer and 20% of potassium fertilizer.

2. Fruit expansion period (mid-to-late June): 60% of total potassium fertilizer, 10% of phosphate fertilizer, and 15% of nitrogen fertilizer.

3. Before and after fruit harvesting (late September to late October): 90% of the total amount of phosphate fertilizer, 40% of nitrogen fertilizer, 20% of potassium fertilizer and all farmyard manure. For each kilogram of apple produced, 2-3 kg of farmyard manure is required.
